One Week In: Thank You, Petworth
I’m still taking it all in, honestly. Our Grand Opening and first week open at District Larder Co. was everything I hoped it could be—busy, warm, a little chaotic (in the good way), and full of the kind of conversations that remind you why you built this in the first place. If you came by, brought a friend, told someone about us, or even just followed along and sent a kind message: thank you. You helped turn a big idea into a real neighborhood place.
One thing that’s hit me hard this week is how generous people have been with their feedback. We’ve already had a wave of 5-star Google reviews from folks who popped in during those first few days, and I’m genuinely grateful. A few that really stuck with me:
"The best Italian sandwich in Washington, D.C. — fresh meats, fresh vegetables, and an incredible staff."
-Aaron O."Had the turkey pepperoni sub and it was delicious! Very happy to have this new spot in the neighborhood."
-Laura P."Great addition to the neighborhood. Meats were exceptional and bread was excellent. Will definitely be a regular spot for us."
-Roger J."Extremely delicious sandwiches!! We have been looking forward to this place opening and can't wait to go back."
-Kyle A.

Reading those has been equal parts humbling and motivating—because that’s exactly what we’re trying to build: great ingredients, real guidance, and a space that feels like it belongs to the neighborhood.
If you haven’t made it in yet, we’d love to see you. Come visit us in Washington DC's Petworth neighborhood in-person, or order online when you need something delicious delivered directly to you. And if you’ve already stopped by, I’d really appreciate you taking a minute to leave your feedback—those reviews help more than people realize by submitting your thoughts here.
Gratefully,
Matt

Got the meatball sub and the mortadella & capicola sandwich. Both were amazing! My husband often doesn’t like capicola as it can be stringy, but theirs was perfect and the sauce for the meatball sub was so flavorful! Especially impressive for their first day open.
